The Stream Whole-Home Assessment™

First measure your home's performance and diagnose any problems using our testing. Then solve the identified problems as Stream continues to partner with you. This is all part of the Stream Whole-Home Assessment™ process. Here's what happens:

  1. Initial Appointment - We'll schedule the appointment and first review your concerns or areas of interest.

  2. Testing & Inspection - We'll conduct a broad set of tests and inspections for air quality, energy efficiency, heating/cooling system performance, building "shell" performance, moisture, airflows, etc. to diagnose any performance problem root causes. Results of these tests can indicate larger problems or may set your mind at ease. You get a choice of one of the large tests, and then various smaller tests.

  3. Road Map - We'll recap everything with you before we leave and create a one-page action plan, together with you, tailored to you and your home. The estimated cost of any recommended work from Stream and also referrals to our qualified partner contractors (as necessary) will be incorporated into this action plan.

  4. Follow-Up - You may call us any time with your follow-up questions.

A service price list will be presented to you during the visit for you to make your own informed choices regarding other products and services. But our main goal is to create healthy air in your home, solve your comfort problems and lower your energy bills. Remember, if you don't test, you're only guessing. And if you're only guessing at what the problem is, you can't fix it. Let us be your total one-stop-shop solution.

"House As A System"

All the components of a home should work synergistically together as a system to provide excellent performance to the owner in terms of comfort, healthy clean air, and energy efficiency. Each component interacts with and impacts the others.

Approaching a house from this mindset has been dubbed "House as a System" by its practitioners. This means looking beyond the HVAC equipment and evaluating the ducts, insulation, duct leakage, house leakage, fireplace safety, carbon monoxide safety, airflows, attic and crawlspaces, and everything that impacts how well the home performs.

Regarding air flows, there are airflows through attics, through crawlspaces, through chase ways, through chimneys, through and out of ducts (leakage), across air conditioner coils and heat exchangers, and through insulation. Depending on the temperature and humidity, condensation which supports mold growth, energy loss, discomfort, and many other issues can result.
